Castle Street

Salisbury

Studio Brassica worked closely with the client on their first mixed-use development converting a three storey former estate agents into two self contained flats and a wheelchair accessible dental clinic on the ground floor.

Located in a formerly listed Georgian office block on the old road linking the original settlement of Salisbury, Old Sarum, and Salisbury Cathedral, the project helps to revive the city centre high street.

It was carried out on a tight budget and the layouts were developed to minimise significant structural interventions whilst maximising the potential of the existing building.

The first floor flat was specially designed to accommodate a tall resident with a back injury.  Affordable ‘off the shelf’ kitchen units were adapted to raise worktops to a more comfortable level and extra tall doors with high door handles were designed to make day to day use more ergonomic.
